Michael Schnabel
Hi, thanks for visiting. I was born and raised in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Growing up I loved the outdoors and anything to do with swimming and boating. That enjoyment was fueled by nine years in the Boy Scouts and working three summers as a camp counselor. $75 for eight weeks of work and I would have done it for free. Then I met my high school sweetheart, Colleen. We worked to pay our way through local Colleges and married in my junior year. I graduated from Northern State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Entering the workforce I joined Squibb Pharmaceuticals representing their prescription and nuclear products. A successful sales career transitioned into Field Management. That led to joining an elite team who supervised Field Training & Development and all aspects of Management Training & Development. I created and presented training, development, and motivational programs for products, representatives, and managers.
There were many highlights and awards over the years but what I enjoyed the most was teaching and developing people. I completed my 34-year career with Bristol-Myers Squibb leading an incredible Neuroscience Specialty Team to #1 in the country. That fulfilled a promise I made to myself 25 years earlier, to go out on top.
Placing family as my highest priority has proven to be one of the best decisions of my life. Colleen is a Registered Nurse and we have two great adult children, a daughter in teaching and a son in psychology. We also have an amazing grandchild and a wonderful son in law. They are the souls I am most thankful for.
My daughter is the subject of my first book, A Journal to Caden, and helped edit, fact check, and provide invaluable feedback during it’s writing. It will stay unpublished as it was written to her newborn son, in case she died before he had the chance to know her. It is the foundation for my second book, Daddy’s Girl and that I want to share with the world. More on that SOON!
Retirement has been wonderful and active as I spend time with my family, tend a family tree farm, and explore my abilities as a writer.
